Easy Sew Pool Towels
Dearest Readers,
Where are my pool girls at? If you are noticing a theme here, you are absolutely correct - HELLO SUMMER. Take me to the ocean, lake, or pool, and if nothing else, throw the sprinkler on in the backyard, and I will have the time of my life. My recipe for soaking up the sun includes sunscreen, a floppy hat, sunglasses, my favorite summer music playlist, beer-a-rita’s, a good book, and last but not least, the perfect beach towel. I have been inspired lately to bring out my trusty sewing machine and get to work on some DIY projects. I am so grateful my Nana taught me how to sew and gifted me my Singer sewing machine. From a young age, I spent countless hours at her house working on sewing projects through 4-H.
I saw this DIY blog from Sew Can She to create the perfect, versatile beach towel - you can follow the exact sewing pattern here: https://bit.ly/3WwS5fy
The Sew Can She pattern is what I used for inspiration, but I adapted the pattern to “make it my own.” The beach towels were a great steal at Walmart, and I purchased 2 yards of cotton fabric to complete this project. Everything you see in the picture is machine washable, which is also a huge plus.
I was so pleased with the final product - the removable pillow sewn into the towel is a game-changer. No more cricks in your neck while you lounge in your chair. Also stitched onto the sides are handy pockets to store your phone, sunscreen, book, or any other necessities. My favorite part of this project was how user-friendly it was. I have not sewn for 4 or 5 years, and I was able to easily pick this project up with very little trouble. These towels are great to travel with or to save your chaise lounge while you are at the city pool, a resort, or on vacation.
I can’t wait to pack my towel in my bag for our summer adventures. Life is good!
