Fall Wreath Makeover

Good morning!

This blog post is coming to you live as I enjoy a steaming cup of hot tea. Let’s get this Tuesday started right!

I try to be very intentional about seasonal decor, so I don’t acquire unnecessary boxes of items I only use once! Easier said than done, but so important! Making our home a domestic church is important and gives a chance to invite others into our special place to rest and take a load off!

I have seen fabric/satin wreath sashes circulate online and I love the look! I have meant to update my “springy” front door wreath and found the perfect solution. Hobby Lobby had all wreaths 40% off so I scored this $45 Magnolia Leaves wreath for nearly half off!

I have another pro tip! Check out the fabric remnant section in Hobby Lobby. They sell discounted fabrics that are small remnants that will not be utilized by the fabric counter. I found crepe satin in this gorgeous grey color for $2.20. I whipped out my sewing machine and sewed a sash with the fabric remnant. I have material left over to sew a second sash to make a Christmas-themed wreath sash!

With a little Cricut magic I was able to personalize the sash with the festive pumpkin detail with our last name on it. This is how it all came together!

1) Head to Hobby Lobby to browse their selection (check coupons for the week to ensure the best deals)! Comfy Fall Sweatshirt attire and coffee in hand - optional. :)

2) Check your ribbon archives at home or browse the fabric remnant section at Hobby Lobby. I have found that a ribbon or fabric that is 5 inches wide and about 52 inches long works perfectly!

3) Using the crepe satin I purchased from the store, I cut and shaped the fabric to form the shape of my wreath sash. (Peep my fave house shoes, thanks Mom!)

4) Once the fabric was prepped and pinned, I easily sewed the 3 sides together while leaving a 2-inch cap to finish sewing by hand. Using the small opening, I turned the fabric right side out and using a needle and thread I sewed the final gap shut.

5) I made a Cricut design with a pumpkin and our last name monogrammed in the center. I ironed on the Cricut design, one on each side and voila! Sash is done!

6) The final product turned out festive and I love the look hanging on our front door!
