Fashion - Ivy City Co. Dress Review

Heyyyy Good Lookin',

What ya got Cookin’? How about a Fashion Review Tuesday?! I have finally taken a page out of Claire Couche’s book and shopped at Ivy City Co. Consider me influenced! If you do not know Claire from her social media outlet, Finding Philothea, go ahead and give her a follow: @findingphilothea

You will find gorgeous content on Claire’s page surrounding family life, feminine beauty, honest product reviews, and all the best book recommendations to cultivate your spiritual and personal growth! Claire has reviewed/modeled several Ivy City dresses, which is where I first saw how beautiful this dress company is. You can see the quality craftsmanship in the dresses from a photo alone! I saved and saved pictures of Ivy City dresses for months! I wanted to wait in order to find the right incentive to purchase my first couple of dresses and...

BOOM - the perfect opportunity to shop! Right at the end of December, Ivy City Co. had a major sale with 30% off select dresses! I highly recommend subscribing to Ivy City Co. emails for the current deals, new dress releases, and flash sales updates. I would say the average price point range for their dresses is $90-$160. https://ivycityco.com/

If you need a dress for wedding season 2024 - for sure check this company out!

What I love about the company:

  • Beautifully crafted dresses, designed with the intent that modest is hottest

  • Fashion-forward dress designs that are meant to flatter all unique body types

  • Women founded company

  • The FIRST dress brand to offer over 20 sizes of a single design

  • Mom + Me focus - dresses available for infants, toddlers, and young girls (how cute!!!)

  • Always innovating with new fashion designs throughout the seasons

Now for the fun…hitting my at-home runway to show you the reviews of my purchases! :)

I am 5’ 5” and measure: US Size 2, Bust 33 in, Waist 26, Hip 35 ½

If that is helpful at all on sizing. The size chart posted on their website appears to be accurate, in my opinion!

Capri Dress - X-Small

What I love:

  • The embroidery is beautiful! I love the Aztec pattern and the dusty blue fabric.

  • The dusty blue fabric is 100% cotton and has a great heavy weight to it. After slipping this dress on, I was given an instant confidence boost and wanted to give that dress a TWIRL! So flattering!

  • The drawstring belt ties in the middle, and that is great to cinch in and accentuate your waistline or leave loose to wear the dress less fitted.

  • The perfect dress for date night, church, traveling (picture me taste-testing wines), or a dressy girls' night out or girls' trip!

  • With my fond appreciation of all things turquoise, this dress will be rocked with my silver stamped cuffs and Navajo pearls.

Capri Dress Considerations:

These considerations are definitely not deal breakers, but my reviews are honest, and I noticed these details when wearing the Capri dress!

  • The sleeves are super cute and have ruffle details, but they do run more fitted and tight. If you have broad shoulders or nice-toned biceps, this dress might be tight/restrictive in the arm area.

  • You will 110% want to be sure to follow the garment care instructions - wash on a cool, delicate cycle and hang to dry. This will increase the lifetime of your dress and prevent any pulling in the embroidery.

  • The wooden buttons also showcase that the craftsmanship of this dress focuses on attention to detail. That being said, the button holes are tightly stitched, and it took some dexterity strength to get the dress's bodice buttoned. With time, I think the button holes will become “worn-in,” and it won’t take as much force to button the dress. This is truly more of a PRO than a CON because I find it highly unlikely that I will ever need to hand-stitch and replace a button!

Amelie Dress - X-Small

What I love:

  • HELLO GLAM EMERALD DRESS! Maybe it’s my strong connection to 4-H green, but I was drawn to this dress's gorgeous green color.

  • The length! It hits me perfectly with all that tulle! Barely graces the top/start of my foot. The fact that this dress is nearly a floor-length dress that required ZERO alterations = MAJOR WIN! I can wear this dress with flats, mules, or a heeled shoe, no problem!

  • The small, floral, sequin embellishments add all the fun and flair to this ‘fit!

  • It has fall/wintry vibes, but doesn’t automatically have long-sleeves.

  • The neckline is very flattering, and the bodice is slightly ruched, giving more flexibility and comfort to the dress.

  • It’s truly the perfect Christmas or dressy occasion dress!

Amelie Dress Considerations:

  • The dress runs very true to size and perhaps a touch on the small side! If you are in between sizes, I would recommend sizing up a size for this dress. The bodice is fitted, so I would be sure to measure and compare your bust measurement to the size chart before purchasing.

  • The tulle has a very faint polka-dot pattern; given the nature of tulle fabric, it will snag if it is brushed against raw edges/something pointy/abrasive.

  • The tulle in the collar/neckline of the dress is designed to sit loosely over the top of the zipper. Be careful when zipping the dress so you do not snag the tulle and get it stuck in your zipper!

  • Any Ivy City dresses marked FINAL SALE are just that - final sale. You cannot return the dress (but you may be able to exchange the dress for another product) if you ordered the incorrect size. Just something to keep in mind when they run sales!

Behind the scenes/bloopers:

Thank you to Lady K's videographer (my husband) for capturing this blog content. :)

Lady K’s One Thing:

A book recommendation! Mitch Albom’s 2-book series:

The Five People You Meet In Heaven

The Next Person You Meet In Heaven

A great read that illustrates the importance of living and living well while on this side of heaven. Everything in our life has a connection, good or bad! I re-read both books every few years and always take away new lessons learned!
