Gameday Jacket

Hello friends,

Can a girl ever own too much denim? I’m sure the limit exists somewhere, but I have a tendency to fall in love with denim shirts, jackets, or a great pair of jeans. Did you realize that fabrics, especially denim, are a major outlet for U.S. cotton production?! As you look ahead to Fall and see denim layers in the store, your purchase supports cotton farmers and those who market it - so a win-win if you ask me!

Drum roll, please… there’s a very exciting time among us…I bet you can guess it. Yes, that is correct - COLLEGE FOOTBALL BABY! I went to college at Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes), and I quickly fell in love with the football season and game day. Each college town has its own set of traditions and rituals for its team. I am a loyal and true OSU fan, and of course, that meant coordinating countless America’s Brightest Orange game day outfits.

You never know if a game is going to be 100 degrees plus, perfect weather, or freezing cold. If you are going to brave the elements to watch a colder game, you might as well look cute while doing it! This was my thought process as I created a Game Day Jacket for my sister at Texas Tech University!

This was the perfect Cricut project and only took minutes to create. I found this oversized, light-wash denim jacket at TJ Maxx (score) and purchased the B and holographic star iron-on appliques at Joann's!

What’s great about projects like these is that you have major cost savings compared to retailers selling similar products. Here are a few similar jackets that I found online:

All of these jackets were $100+, and don’t get me wrong; they are cute but not really in a college student's budget. This project took me 5 minutes to generate the double T Texas Tech logo and iron on the appliques. I am very happy with how it turned out! For all your denim customization needs, you can rely on Lady K Creative. :)

Lady K’s One Thing:

Fancy Panz are essential for tailgating! These little plastic inserts keep your foil pan sturdy and covered - no drips or spills in the car. The pans are sold in every college color you can think of, with different pan features based on your needs. B.Whimsy (my mom and aunt own this boutique) has been selling these for years, especially during football season and the busy holiday season. It is a super fun gift idea to place a vinyl decal on the plastic top so that the pan is personalized and easy to track down after your event. Proudly made in the USA and sold at B. Whimsy in Dalhart, Texas, select Walmart's, and even Amazon!

Go Pokes,

Lady K
