Garden Fresh Hot Sauce + Oklahoma!
Dearest Readers,
Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh, what a beautiful day… I have a beautiful feeling everything is going my way!
The childhood nostalgia of Summer has hit in FULL force. Growing up, I spent countless hours with my grandparents and cousins at our family farm. They had the best TV - it could play DVDs and VHS tapes. I would grab the VHS tape for Oklahoma! - rewind it, cuddle under a homemade fleece tie blanket, and become completely captivated by the musical.
Add this film to your summer movie list and let me know what you think!
Now that I think about it, the foreshadowing is real…I moved to Oklahoma for college, met my Curly (Colten), and now we are LIVING THE LIFE.
I’m an old soul, so of course, I love a movie about farm life in Oklahoma, a box social, southern gentleman charm, and the drama of small-town living!
Aunt Eller is the real deal.
Kaitlin Butts just released a full music album titled “Roadrunner” inspired by this classic movie. It is fantastic - I love her cover of "People Will Say We're in Love." Check it out on Spotify here:
The great debate - Hot Sauce vs. Salsa!
What do you call it?
It's Hot Sauce Y'all
Duh, it's SALSA
It depends; salsa is chunky, and hot sauce is liquid
I am sharing this week a delicious recipe for Fresh Garden Hot Sauce! It’s a quick and easy way to utilize produce in your summer garden. You can easily prepare this with grocery store produce as well.
I am the WORST at remembering to take blog related photos, especially when the topic is cooking. So here’s a photo update of our summer garden - it is progressing nicely!
Fresh Garden Hot Sauce
Ingredients:
1 Cup Garden Tomatoes
3 Jalapenos (or more/less to taste)
¼ Onion (or more/less to taste)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp lime juice
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
Fresh Cilantro to taste
Equipment: Ninja Bullet or any personal blender (we love our Ninja Bullet!)
It is on sale on Amazon: https://a.co/d/0dEerzNF
Directions:
*Keep in mind you will only pulse these ingredients about 4-6 times; the blend function will puree your hot sauce.
Add all ingredients to the tall blender cup, screw on the cross blade, and pulse 4-6 times until ingredients are mixed but still chunky.
Remove the cross blade and pour the salsa into a serving dish. Don’t worry if it looks foamy; it will settle in a minute or two.
This recipe makes a thin salsa, but you can strain off any liquid if you prefer a thicker consistency.
Serve and Enjoy! Refrigerate after preparing—your hot sauce will stay fresh in the fridge for 3-5 days.
