Local Coffee Shop Recommendations

The old soul in me loves a great cup of coffee! It was a rite of passage to finally be “old enough” to drink coffee. In junior high, when I started running cross country, I had to be in town at 6 AM for morning practice, and my dad ensured I was there every morning. As you can imagine since we lived 30 miles out in the country, those practices were an early start for both of us, and he had a full day ahead at the farm. My dad and I bonded over coffee those mornings, so again, it’s really the “simple things in life” for me. I would drink my coffee black - no cream, no sugar, just like he does, and it has stuck ever since!

One thing you need to know about Lady K is that if she is going to get a craft coffee, she wants to support a local shop first! As many of you are preparing for your end-of-summer trips, back-to-school shopping, and running errands, I wanted to provide you with a list of local coffee shops you will not be disappointed in! I know it’s difficult at times to know what to order, so I’ll share my favorite drinks too. These coffee shop locations are going to be more Texas Panhandle-focused because that is where I am located and spend most of my time. However, if you are ever in the Amarillo area and need a recommendation on where to stop for coffee, eat, or shop - let me know - I am happy to help!

Here is a list of Amarillo, TX, based local coffee shops:

Roasters Coffee & Tea Co.

  • Plain Latte - (espresso and milk only), extra hot

  • Poor Man’s Cold Brew - cold brew coffee, cream, and vanilla syrup

  • Locations: Georgia, Bell, Soncy, Lowes Lane

Palace Coffee Company

  • Plain Latte extra hot or with housemade hazelnut syrup when they have it

  • Locations: Canyon, TX Square, Downtown Amarillo, Wolflin, and SW Amarillo

Roast + Toast by Scratch Made Bakery

  • Plain latte, extra hot

  • Located in the FirstBank Southwest Tower on the first floor in Downtown Amarillo

  • Really cool that Roast + Toast supports a local coffee roaster based in Canadian, Texas, called Brown Bag Roasters

Stillwater, OK Coffee Shops:

Aspen Coffee! While I was in college, this was the GO-TO spot! I miss it so much, and I ask my husband if we can stop for coffee every time we pass through.

  • Plain latte, extra hot (I know I am a plain Jane girl when it comes to coffee)

  • Cortado - espresso shot with 2 ounces of milk (perfect to get the day going)

  • Granita Latte - made-from-scratch frozen latte (a saving grace on a hot and humid Stillwater day)

  • Grab you a housemade scone or pig in the blanket while you are at it - YUM!

Aspen Coffee Locations:

  • Stillwater, OK: Downtown, Fountain Square, N Perkins, S Duck St.

  • Edmond, OK: E 2nd Street

  • Oklahoma City, OK: 2420 NW 150th

Lubbock, TX Coffee Recommendation:

Sugar Browns Coffee

  • Vanilla Latte Extra Hot - their vanilla syrup is the perfect balance and never too sweet!

  • Locations: 67th and Indiana and Downtown Lubbock

And there you have it - a whole list of coffee shops that are sure to make you extra pleased and provide the caffeine jolt you need!

Lady K’s One Thing:

Kristin Ess Hair products! I have been using the scalp scrub, texture spray, and blow-dry mist spray for over a year now, and I am a HUGE fan! Every single one of her products smells heavenly and maintains an affordable price.

Scalp scrub is great in the shower to be massaged into your scalp to remove shampoo and product build-up. If you are a dry shampoo girl - this will totally refresh your hair.

Blow dry mist can be used on wet or dry hair to provide heat protection when styling your hair. I have noticed that this cuts my blow-dry time way down and helps prevent split ends.

Dry Texture Spray is a miracle worker when curling your hair or trying to build volume. It doesn’t take much but will give you that extra va-voom to have hair that will last all day without falling.

Wishing you a Full Cup this Week,

Lady K
