Puzzle Wall Hanging Art

Hello, Friends,

Recently, our family has taken an interest in building puzzles together! Colten and I were gifted this awesome Cactus puzzle for Christmas, and let me tell you, connecting all the pieces was CHALLENGING! Many of the cacti colors blended together, and we had it sprawled on our living room table for months. As I got the itch to clear off the table and break down the semi-complete puzzle, Colten had us buckle down and finish the remainder of the puzzle. We were proud of our work and decided to save/frame our puzzle.

So here it is, a DIY Puzzle Wall Hanging guide for turning any puzzle into art for your home!

Supplies Needed:

  • Puzzle Saver or Matte Modge Podge

  • Paintbrush

  • Posterboard that fits the size of your puzzle

  • Command Strips

  1. Once you have completed your puzzle, record the measurement of the puzzle to pick up the correct size poster board. The puzzle measurements are typically printed on the box the puzzle was packaged in. (Tip: poster board or foam board will work great for this project)

  2. Gather your supplies - puzzle saver/modge podge, paintbrush, poster board, and command strips.

  3. Prepare a solid work area to adhere your puzzle pieces together.

  4. Carefully slide the poster board under the completed puzzle.

  5. Begin painting thin layers of modge podge over the front of the puzzle. Let the 1st layer dry for 10-15 minutes and continue layering the modge podge 2-3 more times until set solid.

  6. Once the front has FULLY dried, carefully flip your puzzle over (the backside is now facing up). Be gentle; if any pieces have stuck to the poster board, wiggle them free so you have one solid puzzle piece.

  7. Now, paint your poster board with a thin layer of modge podge, AND paint a coating on the back of the puzzle. Let this dry fully before hanging.

  8. Identify where you would like to hang the puzzle. Place a command strip on each of the 4 corners of the puzzle and hang it on the wall.

And there you have it - Puzzle Wall Hanging Art to brighten any room! We hung our puzzle in our living room. This project could be fun for a kid's room, playroom, basement, or game room. You can also save this blog post for future use for your next Christmas or family holiday to start a tradition of building a puzzle each year to add to your seasonal decor. If you try this project, Lady K Creative would love to see photos of your Puzzle Art!

Lady K’s One Thing:

What in the Dang Heck Podcast - Available on All Podcast Streaming Platforms!

A good friend introduced me to this podcast about a year ago! Cecilia and Megan bring loads of laughter and genuine advice to their platform. They are filling the void I see in many circles of not addressing the hard truths (in relationships, friendships, on our journey with Jesus, etc.) with love and care. Their podcast is intentionally designed to be open and advice oriented. I love that the podcast is formatted with a less traditional structure than most. It’s perfect for listening to at work, in the car, or while working on other projects. I admire their work and highly recommend giving their podcast a listen!

Until Next Week - Yours Truly,

Lady K
