Sisters for Life Wall Hanging

Hello, August,

In the Texas Panhandle, we have been fortunate enough to experience a fairly mild summer. However, August is ramping up and bringing on the heat! It has been a good, good Summer. ^cue Last American Summer by Flatland Calvary.

We have had many adventures, shared laughter, and spent quality time with those we love. We’ve tried new recipes and cooked some pretty amazing meals. I love the notion of being a continuous learner.

Have you ever heard of Donald Clifton and the Clifton Strengths Assessment? It’s a research-based leadership study that helps people identify their personal five areas of “talent.” Clifton determined that a person's strengths are their naturally recurring patterns of thought, feeling, or behavior. These strengths can be identified through a questionnaire assessment.

Talent X Investment = Strength

When you invest in your talents you are developing your strengths to maximize your productivity and success.

I studied these concepts in depth throughout college and reflect on them often. My 5 Strengths are: Discipline | Focus | Input | Learner | Maximizer

Two of my talents really stick out to me:

“People exceptionally talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. The process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.” -Clifton Strengths

“People exceptionally talented in the Input theme have a need to collect and archive. They may accumulate information, ideas, artifacts, or even relationships.” -Clifton Strengths

What I find fascinating is that this assessment is highly reliable. If you take their assessment 10 years down the road you might have variations in how your themes are arranged, but your top 8-12 strengths will be very similar, if not the same.

My mind is always jumping to new curiosities and the why behind it all. I have an extensive archive of crafts, party-planning ideas, and Pinterest inspiration that I am continuously adding to, so those themes of Learner and Input are right on point. I collect quotes, save handwritten letters and notes, and have countless special keepsakes I could never part with.

Photographs are an outlet to collect memories. I wanted to have a place in our home to display some of my most sweetest memories. Particularly how special my SFLs (Sisters for Life) are and the bonds we share.

This is where those Pinterest boards come in handy! I present to you my DIY wall hanging.  I had an old fence post collecting dust in our shed. Thanks to my husband, who cut the wooden slats for this project - I was able to transform something old into something entirely new. I dug out old paint, ribbons, mini clothespins, and eye hooks.

After painting the wooden boards, I installed the eyes and tied the ribbon. I made it easy and used command strips to hang these up on the wall. It suits me and makes me happy - how home decorating should be! This is proudly hung in our spare bedroom, which is super fitting, considering that’s also the home of Lady K Creative.

The perfect fit!

Of course, I am going to share my love of learning with you! How cool is this?

Have a Blessed Tuesday,
