Summer Date Night Ideas

Dear Readers,

Today's blog is simple - creative ideas for Summer Date Nights! In my opinion, it is the best time of the year... the sun is out longer, making summer nights that much sweeter!

“Dates got you to a place where you wanted to marry each other. If you want to stay married, keep dating your spouse.” —Andy Traub

In a few short days, Colten and I will celebrate our 1-year wedding anniversary! Our wedding day seems like yesterday and ages ago, all at the same time. Newlywed life is FUN! The life we are building together is more than I could have ever prayed for. Summer is hands down my favorite season, and to say I have “summer fever” would be an understatement. I wanted to compile a list of creative date night ideas to get the ball rolling. My favorite part about summer is the feeling of hanging out with those you love. A cold drink in hand, music in the background, add in some sunshine, and spending quality time with your people = THE BEST OF TIMES. While this list is great for date night with your spouse or significant other, it is also great for getting together with your friends and hanging out. I hope your summer contains all things sweet! This is the list that I have come up with:

Date Night Ideas

  • Pickleball date

  • Golf lessons

  • Drive-in movies - there’s a great little historic drive-in in Amarillo called the Tascosa Drive-in Theater

  • Look around the house and see if there’s a project you want to tackle together (Perhaps something that needs work in the backyard, kitchen, or garage)

  • Two of our favorite projects have been building a pallet swing to hang in the backyard

  • And building Eskimo Joes Cup Lights to light up our patio/pergola

  • Wine Taste Testing at Home

    • Grocery shop for 5 wines based on your taste preferences. Once you have your selection of Whites/Reds + Dry/Semi-Dry/Sweet Wines - get out glasses or cups to taste test your variety of wines.

    • It’s also fun to prepare a charcuterie board of sorts with cheeses, crackers, and fruit to compare what flavor notes go with the wine.

    • 3 Wine Recommendations from Lady K:

      • Grove Pinot Noir - Made in Oregon

      • Acrobat Pinot Noir - Made in Oregon

      • Butter Chardonnay - Made in California

  • Seek out an event hosted at your church and invite another couple to come with

  • Dig through the stack of gift cards in your junk drawer and pick out a place to eat based on the gift cards you have

If you are a Texas Panhandle Friend, these are a few of our top Amarillo, Texas, Out on the Town Recommendations:

  • Braceros the Original on 6th Street or Downtown off of Polk Street

  • Sushi House in Wolfin off of Georgia Street

  • Blue Sky - nothing better than a green chile cheeseburger with sweet potato fries

  • Hike Palo Duro Canyon and Checkout the Sad Monkey Mercantile + Sad Monkey Hall

  • Golden Light Cantina - greasy bar food paired with live music and cold drinks

  • 6 Car Pub - Craft Beer and Delish Bar Food in Downtown Amarillo

  • Crush - dinner or drinks on the rooftop patio + they often have live music

  • Drinks at the Barfield Hotel Speakeasy
